I really dislike Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales. Why? Because I am weak and often suffer from FOMO (fear of missing out). This is especially true when new plugins are introduced to the community or plugins that I have been interested in for a long time suddenly get excellent pricing. This year was no different, and I ended up spending way more than anticipated. So what did I buy?

New Plugins

Several new plugins caught my eye this year, but I ended up buying three newcomers — Solid Posts, Gutenberg Styles, and SureDash.

Solid Posts has excellent potential, and hopefully, they will develop this to provide even more information.

Gutenberg Styles was an investment in what might be possible with the Gutenberg editor. My initial results within a Bricks site haven’t been great, but this is likely because I don’t know what I am doing with it … yet.

The SureDash purchase was also an investment in the future. This is still an Alpha, but I am hopeful it will become everything they claim, and I hope for — an easy-to-setup community platform.

Others

In addition to the newcomers, I ended up buying Amelia. It is a plugin I have had my eye on for a long time, and the 70% off was too much to pass on. After using Amelia and Simply Schedule Appoints (SSA), Amelia is far easier to use and understand, but the accessibility of SSA is second to none. I have already submitted a ticket to the Amelia team to look at SSA for inspiration regarding accessibility.

Others that made it to the list this year are more tools from the “Sure” family — SureCart, SureMembers, and SureTriggers with SureTriggers being the one I expect to use immediately.

Fortunately (I guess), I already own Frames for Figma and Independent Analytics, or I would have bought those, too.

It will be interesting to revisit this article in a year or two and see what has become of these purchases.
